Thanks for stopping by!
In just a few minutes you will be able to control common pest!
There are beneficial bugs in your garden that you may have considered pests before now. Let’s talk about the good...
There is an alternative to simply spraying water. Two of the most common things you will hear is, Peppermint Oil and Neem Oil. Both are good when used in moderation. There are good bugs such as micro-organisms in the soil and water and are beneficial to your plant.
Insects such as bees support an entire chain in the ecosystem! Ants actually transfer pollen….. helping you get more fruits and vegetables.
Moths and Caterpillars really serve no purpose, but are nice to look at just be careful with them and leafy greens.
Lady bugs are a great predator to get rid of aphids. No aphids equal happy plant. With the good comes the bad...
Let’s say a well fed lady bug, meets another lady bug and they fall in love and start reproducing. They will seek out your plants for food to maintain that reproduction.
Always research the product, plan for the good, but beware the of bad.
When you see one of the pests you'll want to come up with a quick solution. compared to the size of a quarter they can be hard to see.
If the spider mites create a web similar to the one pictured you have a serious issue.
Rather than jumping right in; take a step back and do some research. Spray an over the counter item can get rid of the pest. But don’t just spray the plant without reading the recommendations.
Keeping up with the pest should be preventative more than reactive. There are preventative measures. the main ingredients commercially are Neem Oil and Peppermint Oil, but there are others. The oils are usually mixed with soap. BEWARE of the high alcohol content.
Remember that using too much soap will kill your plant by stripping the oils from the leaf.
The simplest form of control is to keep healthy plants. Pest will attack the weaker plant first. NEVER use roundup or weed control near your plants.
Let’s go through one solution that does not use soaps or non-organic fillers.
Blend the veggies then pour ½ Liter of water into the blender and continue to blend.
Pour the blenders content into a plastic or glass jar. Place the jar in a sunny and warm area. If you boil the water you can only have to wait a few hours. Make sure to strain the contents well and pour your natural pest solution back into a jar. When the water is cool enough to spray, add it to the spray bottle and you're ready to go.
Scan your garden to identify the pest areas.
Test a section of the garden to see if your pest treatment works.
Start with a half of dose and check daily while using anything new in your garden.
